Beyond research: FBK Press and FBK’s specialized library

April 22, 2022

From research to books, those published by FBK's in-house publishing house and those carefully preserved in its specialized library

Perhaps not everyone knows that … Fondazione Bruno Kessler, mainly known for its research centres, also has an internal publishing structure and its own publishing brand, FBK Press.

A small, but flexible and dynamic reality, which supports the mission of the Foundation by publishing the results of the scientific activity carried out primarily by internal researchers, in series published in several languages, under the brand FBK Press or in collaboration with major publishers at national (e.g.: Il Mulino) and international (e.g.: De Gruyter) level.

In this way, the results of FBK research have the possibility to reach a wide and varied audience, not only experts or scholars, paying particular attention to the territorial dimension and the new generations.

The texts, available both in print and digital (ebook), deal with topics of History, Philosophy and Socio-Anthropology, without neglecting current scientific and technological issues.

Alongside monographs and books written by several authors, we find a number of sector periodicals, including the Annali/Jahrbuch of the Italian-German Historical Institute and the Annali di Studi Religiosi of the Centre for Religious Studies, included in the list of A-range scientific journals of ANVUR.

The dissemination of the works takes place, depending on the target audience, within the circuits of scientific communication and, through the brand FBK Press, in the channels of non-specialist communication.

Still on the subject of books, FBK also boasts an appreciated specialized library with over 215,000 volumes, more than 2,000 periodicals, over 40 databases and an increasingly important heritage of digital bibliographic resources. The library, located in the Santa Croce office, is open to the public and has a study room, lending and reference services.

At Villa Tambosi, in Villazzano, there is also the institute library of the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*), with over 2,000 volumes on theoretical nuclear physics.
