EDUCA 2017 PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS PRESENTED

Building EDUCA, and organizing it, means for all those who subscribe to it, publicly taking an ongoing commitment so that the growing social demand for a “good education” does not respond with contingent solutions and extemporaneous actions. As of this year, also FBK is among the official scientific partners of the Festival of Education to be held in Rovereto April 7 through 9, and whose program dedicated to schools was presented today.

Facilitating participation and broadening the offer for schools are the objectives of the EDUCA Organizing Committee, which reveals the program for April 7, the first day of the Festival of Education entirely dedicated to students. The town of Rovereto will be hosting artistic events and performances, workshops, music and theater, sports and meetings with writers and much more, through which “Steps”, the topic of the eighth edition of the event, will be explored.

Promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the University of Trento and the Town of Rovereto, with the scientific support of Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Fondazione Franco Demarchi and IPRASE, and organized by Con.Solida, the Festival will dedicate to class groups the opening morning of the Festival. Given the large and growing participation in the previous editions (900 students in 2016), this year EDUCA broadens its range of activities both for the ages to which the events are offered (from three-year-olds to 20-year-olds) and for the high number of events (32 from 9 am to 5 pm). Among the events, the award ceremony of the “L’EDUCAZIONE MI STA A CUORE | I CARE ABOUT EDUCATION” contest, organized in collaboration with Casse Rurali Trentine, and the Tourism Agency of Rovereto and Vallagarina with the local museums.

Also the program designed for students will explore the topic “STEPS”, identified for this eighth edition by the Organizing Committee.

Children aged 6-11

About one-third of greenhouse gas emissions are due to activities related to cultivating, breeding, fishing and hunting the food we eat. Eating habits and food wastage are important bot only for our health, but also for that of the world in which we live. The workshop proposes some issues related to wastage and nutrition, and connects them to the impact that these have on the environment around us. Through a “food monopoly”, children have the opportunity to apply what they have learned by building a healthy diet, donating excess food and helping to reduce our “footprint” on the planet.

Children aged 6-11
Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn how to program.  And with Code Time they can do it having fun by building animations and solving simple problems. The initiative, originated in the United States, allows adults and children with no previous experience to approach programming concepts (sequence, iteration, selection…). In addition to arousing interest in one of the professions that will be among the most popular in coming years, the workshop offers a fascinating and rigorous way of thinking.
