Photonics Explorers

The project coordinated by the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology in collaboration with Fondazione Bruno Kessler was presented at the Galilei High School
On Thursday, November 9, the Galilei High School in Trento hosted the presentation of the “Explorers of Photonics” project by Andrea Chiappini, CNR researcher at the presence of more than 100 students and teachers.
The project, coordinated by the CNR Photonics and Nanotechnology Institute (IFN-CNR Trento), involves Fondazione Bruno Kessler and Galilei and Da Vinci High Schools in Trento, Rosmini High School in Rovereto and Degasperi High School of Borgo Valsugana.
The activities planned will be developed thanks to the support of the Caritro Foundation – the project is in fact among those funded by the “Networking between educational institutions and local organizations” call for proposals – and the objective is to spread knowledge on Photonics through a new teaching approach. The involvement of students in the design of experiments concerning light will be stimulated by having them participate in guided tours of the IFN-CNR and FBK laboratories and attend thematic seminars. During the project, a contest will be organized, the final of which will be held at the Museum of Science where students will have the chance to present their work to a large audience.
The meeting saw the participation of Tiziana Gulli, Galilei High School teacher; Cristiana Bianchi of IPRASE, sponsor; Stefano Trainotti, from the Department of Knowledge of the Autonomous Province of Trento; Eugenio Orsini, with the Caritro Foundation; Alberto Gola and Alessandra Potrich, from FBK, who illustrated to the students the motivations that have pushed partners and funding agencies and sponsors to join the project advanced by IFN-CNR.
