INN4MECH: THE MECHATRONIC HUB OF ROVERETO IS HOSTING THE 1ST FORUM ON POWERTRAIN

The first Italian forum on power transmission for cars and off-road vehicles for the new domain of sustainable and efficient mobility is being held on February 15 and 16. Experts and operators from all over the world are expected.

To build the car of the future, the electric motor is not enough; new transmission and propulsion geometries are needed. The innovative technologies required for their development will be discussed on February 15 and 16 in Rovereto at Inn4Mech, the first Italian forum on powertrain. The initiative will take place at Polo Meccatronica, Trentino Sviluppo’s incubator for Industry 4.0, in partnership with some of the most important universities and companies in the industry, such as Dana and Siemens, Bonfiglioli. The aim of the forum is to allow researchers, technicians, operations managers of small-medium enterprises and large companies that operate in this field, both directly and indirectly through the production of enabling technologies related to mechatronics, to exchange views with speakers coming from Italy, but also from England, Germany and the United States, as well as to build new research and development projects together.

During the workshops and seminars we will discuss the construction and application of powertrains to cars and off-road vehicles, in order to make them increasingly efficient. More in detail, we will talk about: modeling, advanced sensors and optimization of simulation systems, communication and vehicle control.

“Intervening on these technologies – Angelo Messina, head of the R&D department of EnginSoft and member of the scientific committee of Inn4Mech, explains – translates into reducing the weight of the electronic components of the car, such as control units, batteries, security systems. This improves the vehicle’s performance in terms of costs and efficiency, and allows for wasting less power between the engine and the wheels».

The Inn4Mech event will also discuss how to apply artificial intelligence (AI) and state-of-the-art technologies.

“The recent development and increased production of electric and hybrid propulsion vehicles has opened the door to powertrain architectures that exploit the great potential and controllability of electric drives, allowing the development of electronic differential and traction control systems that are more efficient and less expensive than their mechanical counterparts”, Paolo Bosetti, professor at the University of Trento, as well as a member of the Scientific Committee, points out.

Speakers include Simona Onori who lectures “Engineering of energy resources” at the prestigious Stanford University in California and Reiter Herbert, executive director for Germany of the US giant AGCO, world leader in the production of agricultural equipment.
