Luigi Crema elected as chair of the Hydrogen Europe Research Board

July 22, 2020

A particularly critical position at European level that comes just as the European Commission publishes its hydrogen strategy

Luigi Crema, head of the ARES (Applied Research on Energy Systems) Research Unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, has been elected chair of the Technical Committee in the Hydrogen Production sector within the Board of   Hydrogen Europe Research, an association that brings together over 70 European research organizations, devoted to energy development in the field of hydrogen.

“The Technical committees,” Luigi Crema explained, “have a strategic role in that they provide support for the development of the European Partnership’s Clean Hydrogen for Europe programs, which will be officially launched by the Commission as part of the Horizon Europe program, with a budget for research considerably higher than the one allocated in the previous FCH JU program in H2020, and whose official figures will be announced towards the end of 2020″.

A particularly critical position at European level and that comes just as the European Commission publishes its strategy on hydrogen, which plans to accelerate this sector with a view to energy development that is more environmentally friendly and capable of not adding to the climate crisis, thus cutting down on CO2 emissions. In this context, Luigi Crema is also participating in the drafting of the Clean Hydrogen for Europe – CHE platform implementation program.

The appointment as chair, which took place this month, has a term of two years. Luigi Crema also holds the role of vice president at H2IT, the Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association.
