TrentinoSalute 4.0: the activities for the next three years have been financed
TrentinoSalute4.0 will carry on its activities for the three-year period 2020-2022: the Province Government decided today, on the advice of the councilor for health Stefania Segnana, to allocate to the Competence Center on Digital Health, jointly managed by the Province, the Trento Province Healthcare System and Fondazione Bruno Kessler, one and a half million euros for the next three years
[Autonomous Province of Trento press release]
“TrentinoSalute4.0 is now considered in our area as one of the players capable of enabling digital innovation and as the first laboratory of ideas and project planning for digital healthcare – councilor Segnana said. In recent years, many applications and services have been successfully tested. We are ralking about the TreC_FSE app that let users access their electronic health records through their mobile phone, TreC_diabete, the diabetes management application and, last but not least, the TreCovid19 app, the tool that collects the official information on the Covid-19 emergency in Trentino in a single container and for some weeks has provided health workers and citizens suport with the monitoring of the symptoms of the disease. A critical asset of innovation – the councilor for health concluded – which has allowed us to fill the gap with citizens and patients, to bring health services to the homes of Trentino residents, ensuring greater equality of access to services in the area”.
In these three years of work, TrentinoSalute4.0 has started primary prevention projects such as “Impronte”, “Due passi in salute con le Acli” and the Health+ app, to promote health in the workplace (Key to Health). It has also been engaged in the definition and development of technology-based solutions that helped healthcare providers start on treatment and manage patients with chronic diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, …).Additionally, as regards access to services, the TreC_FSE app was developed which allows users to view their electronic health records from their mobile phones, and has been constantly being upgraded with new features (appointment scheduling, account access authorization to delegated person, health services payment). Also noteworthy are the numerous research projects funded by the European Commission.The collaborations with patient associations, with local and national hospitals, with local agencies, with private companies, joint laboratories with the University of Trento, with partners of European projects and with the Trento School for Training in General Medicine, as well as with local companies are many.
The 2020-2022 program plan approved by the TrentinoSalute4.0 “Control Room” moves along the tracks undertaken in recent years, i.e. increasing digitization of healthcare services, in line with the reorganization process started by the APSS aimed at strengthening the local network of chronic conditions related services, hospital-local communities integration, service homogeneity and containment of administrative costs, thus outlining an innovative model of health management (supported by new technologies and the TreC digital health platform) capable of responding promptly and effectively to the health needs of citizens. Just think of the TreCovid19 App which, besides providing official information on the pandemic in Trentino, allows users to remotely monitor quarantined people and virus positive patients treated at home.TS4.0 is also working to develop integrated Telemedicine solutions to support Phase 2 of the Covid emergency, to allow to start on treatment and manage patients remotely at local offices and/or directly at their homes.
With today’s resolution, the provincial government, in addition to funding for the next three years, has entrusted Fondazione Bruno Kessler once more with the technical-scientific and administrative management of TrentinoSalute4.0, also confirming the current governance, made up of two bodies with representatives of the three entities, namely the “Control Room” and the Executive Committee.
The Control Room, which has the task of defining and advancing the working guidelines, is composed of:
the general manager of the Health and Social Policy Department; the general manager of the Economic Development, Research and Employment Department;
the general director of the Trento province Healthcare System;
the secretary-general of Fondazione Bruno Kessler.
The Executive Committee, which defines programs and plans activities, is composed of:
the director of the Innovation and Research Office of the Health and Social Policy Department;
a medical director of the Health and Social Policy Department;
the health director of the Trento Province healthcare System (APSS);
the director of the APSS Technology Department;
the director of the Fbk Information Technology Center;
the Head of the Fbk High Impact Health & Weillbeing Initiative;
At the same time, the executive approved the Collaboration Agreement for the establishment of a Joint Research Unit, called TrentinoSalute4.0-JRU, a permanent working group aimed, among other things, at further increasing European funding for specific research lines and projects.
