March 18 is the deadline to send applications for WebValley 2018, the international summer Data Science School that, since 2001, Trento-based Fondazione Bruno Kessler has dedicated to young people between 17 and 18 years old.

In the 2018 edition, scheduled from June 17 to July 7 in Val di Non, a new solution will be developed in the field of artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, in collaboration with the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome.

FBK offers up to 14 scholarships, mainly for Italian 4th year high school students, partly reserved for participants from the Province of Trento, covering all costs of special laboratory activities, meals, accommodation, transportation, and sports and social activities.

Applications must be submitted no later than Sunday, March 18, 2018 online at http://webvalley.fbk.eu, using the “General track”, following the general instructions provided at https//webvalley.fbk.eu/general-track-info/ and in detail at https://webvalley.fbk.eu/application-how-to/

A group of experts will go through the applications and prepare a merit ranking based on the information received (such as the two most recent school report cards, CV, cover letter). Soft skills, personal motivation and curiosity are very important in the selection phase. Gender balance is included among the selection criteria. The selection of candidates includes as well a personal interview, to be held before the end of March, and which can be conducted via Skype for students who do not live in the Trento area. Also this year’s edition will be open to international students and thus a good English proficiency is required.

Students who participate in WebValley will have the opportunity to be credited 150 hours for the Combining School and Work Program (the certification will be issued only upon positive outcome of the student’s activity).
