For a Human-Centered AI

AAAI 2022 @ FBK

April 27, 2022

The FBK scientist Luciano Serafini has become fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EURAI). Head of Data and Knowledge Management Research Unit at FBK, his reaserch interests include Knowledge representation, Artificial intelligence, Semantic Web, Applied Ontology and Neuro-Symbolic architectures.

With thousands of submitted papers every year and competitive acceptance rates, the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, is certainly one of the top five international conferences on Artificial Intelligence.

Organized since 1980 by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (formerly the American Association for Artificial Intelligence), the AAAI conference promotes theoretical and applied research on Artificial Intelligence as well as intellectual interchange among researchers and practitioners.

The technical program features substantial, original research and practices.

AAAI 2022, the 36th edition of the conference, held in March, was particularly selective with 9020 papers submitted and a competitive 15% acceptance rate.

In a recent workshop the FBK research community aimed at celebrating the excellent presence of FBK at AAAI 2022 consisting of three papers accepted for the main research track and a “Classic Paper Honorable Mention” for one of the most cited papers from AAAI-06.

PAPERS ACCEPTED

Classic Paper Honorable Mention for the paper from AAAI 06 “Corpus-based and Knowledge-based Measures of Text Semantic Similarity” by R. Mihalcea, C. Corley, and C. Strapparava (FBK).

The workshop, in mixed modality, gave researchers and students the opportunity to interact with this substantial, original research.

It was also the chance to honor a FBK scientist who has become fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EURAI). Luciano Serafini, with almost 10 thousands citations (9728), has published influential works in the most important international journals and conferences (his current H-index is 46 and i10-index is 152). In October 1988 he joined ITC-IRST (Istituto per la Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica, now FBK) as a junior researcher. His research interests include artificial intelligence, logic for knowledge representation and multi agent systems, semantic web, ontologies, information integration, and automated reasoning.
