FBK AND DOLOMITI ENERGIA TRADING: TOGETHER FOR A MORE EFFICIENT ENERGY MARKET THANKS TO INFORMATION

A three-year framework agreement on the use of Big Data in the energy industry has been signed

Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) and Dolomiti Energia Trading, the Dolomiti Energia Group firm engaged in energy trading on the main European markets and stock exchanges, have signed an important collaboration agreement on data science and artificial intelligence methods for the study of the energy market. The collaboration, which starts with a six-month applied research project within a three-year framework agreement, establishes synergy between two important players in the Trentino area and will allow to identify points of contact between the research skills in science and technology already existing in FBK and Dolomiti Energia Trading’s need for innovation in the energy markets. In order to be able to introduce the use of Big Data in an industry such as energy, where information technologies are not yet widely applied, the partnership between FBK and Dolomiti Energia Trading will allow to analyze specific intervention areas in order to innovate decision-making processes by providing support with the knowledge produced from data and information processed using the most advanced models and algorithms available today.

Dolomiti Energia Trading is the Group subsidiary that deals with the dispatching of the electricity produced (about 4 TWh/year). It is also active on environmental markets (EUA, TEE, CV) where it negotiates the purchase and sale of natural gas, electricity and environment-related securities, and acts as shippers in the natural gas market.
