FBK joins the ANTHEM Foundation as a new member

December 19, 2025

Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) has joined the ANTHEM Foundation as a new member, bringing its scientific and technological expertise to support the development of innovative healthcare solutions and the growth of high-impact applied research.

ANTHEMAdvaNced Technology for Human centEred Medicine—is one of Italy’s leading research initiatives at both the national and European level. It is funded with €120 million by the Ministry of University and Research under the PNC, the National Plan for Complementary Investments linked to the PNRR.

The ANTHEM Foundation’s end-of-year General Assembly approved the admission of Fondazione Bruno Kessleras a member, together with Dmf Pharma Foodar srl, an Italian company specializing in the research, development, and marketing of foods for special medical purposes. The two entities combine complementary strengths—one grounded in market expertise, the other in scientific research—and that share ANTHEM’s mission of advancing scientific studies and technological innovation in the service of health.

Commenting on the move, FBK President Ferruccio Resta said: The foundation’s decision to join ANTHEM reflects a strong convergence of vision and a shared goal of taking scientific research beyond the laboratory and turning it into concrete solutions for people’s health. ANTHEM offers a collaborative model that enhances interdisciplinary research and accelerates the transfer of results into healthcare practice, It is in this ecosystem that innovation can truly become enabling, strengthening prevention, making clinical decisions more timely, and improving patients’ quality of life.”

ANTHEM is a multidisciplinary initiative spanning medicine and engineering, physics, computer science, and economics, created to develop innovative technologies and new approaches in healthcare and patient care.  Its work includes advanced tools and sensors for diagnostics, health and environmental monitoring, artificial intelligence, imaging, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. The initiative is currently involved in 28 pilot projects across four main research areas, coordinated by the University of Bergamo, University of Milan-Bicocca, Politecnico di Milano, and the University of Catania, and engaging more than 350 researchers. The project is supported by a broad public-private network that includes universities, hospitals, private companies, public institutions, civil society organizations, patient associations, and other research entites. ANTHEM’s mission is to improve care and quality of life for fragile and chronically ill patients affected by diseases that currently lack effective therapies, through intelligent monitoring, prevention and diagnosis, precision medicine, and technology innovation.

“ANTHEM promotes applied scientific research that can reach citizens quickly,” said ANTHEM Foundation President Stefano Paleari. “Our goal is to achieve a real leap forward in diagnosis and treatment and to ensure that the healthcare system can fully benefit from the opportunities offered by technology and innovation, with concrete and measurable impact. Three years after ANTHEM’s launch, the community of researchers continues to grow, as does the national and international network of partners. The addition of two new members today shows that initiatives launched under the PNRR can continue beyond 2026, opening up high-value prospects supported by a scientific community of the highest level.”
