Ali Nawaz
Ali Nawaz began his research career during his master’s studies, carrying out his final-year thesis project at Holst Centre (the Netherlands) in 2011, where he gained early international experience in semiconductor processing and micro- and nanofabrication. He received his PhD in Physics from the Federal University of Paraná (Brazil) in 2018, followed by postdoctoral research at the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano/CNPEM).
Ali is currently a researcher at MNF Operations within the Center for Sensors & Devices at FBK, where he is responsible for the development and optimization of LPCVD, ICP- CVD, and plasma etching processes, while supporting the operation of the corresponding fabrication facilities. His research focuses on plasma etching, thin-film deposition, and micro- and nanofabrication process development for applications including silicon detectors, quantum and photonic devices, X-ray detector components, silicon carbide technologies, and organic microelectronic devices. He is also investigating the integration of novel materials into microelectronic platforms and the development of innovative organic transistors for next-generation electronics.
Ali collaborates closely with both academic and industrial partners and has authored over 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications, two patent applications, and is co-inventor of a freestanding membrane platform for X-ray applications.
