Marco Mondini

Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science of the University of Padua where he teaches Contemporary History and History of Conflicts, he is a research associate at the Italian-German Historical Institute of Trento (FBK ISIG) and at the UMR Sirice (CNRS-Paris Sorbonne).

He is a member of the steering committee of the Centre de Recherche International of the Historial de la Grande Guerre of Péronne and is editor for Italy of the project “14-18 online. International Encyclopedia of the First World War”.

He studied at the University of Pisa, where he graduated in history, and at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, where he obtained a diploma in disciplines of history and a doctorate in contemporary history.

He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Padua (2003-2005), a research fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore (2006-2010), and FBK-ISIG researcher (2011-2017), where he directed the Research Project “1914-1918”. He has been visiting professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, at the University of Lille 3 “Charles De Gaulle”, at the University of Paris 7 “Diderot”, at the U.S. Army War College and at Oberlin College (Ohio).

At the University of Padua, he is scientific director of the research projects “An Environmental History of War” (2019-2022) and “Exiting the War (1944-1950)” (2020-2023). He obtained in 2020 the national scientific qualification as full professor.
