The WEB of the future. FBK becomes the national contact point.

March 31, 2017

The Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento becomes the national contact point for Web standards. The Trentino based research center takes up as of this year the prestigious position within the World Wide Web Consortium (www.w3.org), the international organization led by Tim Berners-Lee

FBK, with its team made up of Bernardo Magnini, Adolfo Villafiorita and Manuela Speranza, will manage the Italian office under which are all the national bodies and companies working together to develop the Web standards of the future in high impact application fields, such as automotive, web security, digital publishing, Internet of Things and web payment.

“The management of the W3C Italian Office,” points out its coordinator Bernardo Magnini (FBK), “is an important acknowledgement of the skills and the network that Fondazione Bruno Kessler has been able to build over the years and, at the same time, a role of responsibility at the national level that makes us proud. We are facing the task of strengthening the presence of the Italian partners in W3C initiatives, so that they can draw the greatest possible benefit. ”

The event marking the opening of the new W3C Office in Italy will be taking place at the FBK facilities in via Sommarive, 18, at Povo (Trento) Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2:30 pm.

Speakers will include Paolo Traverso (ICT-FBK Director), Bernardo Magnini (FBK and Office Manager of W3C Italia), Bernard Gidon (W3C-EMEA Business Development Leader), Cristina Mussinelli (Italian Publishers Association, Head for Digital Publishing) and Adolfo Villafiorita (FBK and W3C Italia).
