The new FBK PhD Program website is online

February 21, 2025

A portal for the Foundation's doctoral student community

The new website dedicated to doctoral students enrolled in Fondazione Bruno Kessler’s PhD Program is online: a portal designed to recount their activities, present new opportunities and strengthen academic and industrial networks.

FBK’s PhD Program currently welcomes 180 doctoral students from 25 different countries, representing a key component of the Foundation’s human capital.

A site designed for the PhD Program community

The new website https://phd.fbk.eu/ is designed to offer an intuitive and comprehensive experience, aimed at promoting the program with new opportunities for those who wish to join it, to enhance the daily work of PhD students within FBK, and to strengthen connections with partner universities and companies involved in the Industrial PhD Program. The goal is to create a dynamic and accessible space that can tell the story of PhD students’ research and professional experiences, as well as foster new collaborations and opportunities for growth.

At the official launch of the website, a number of PhD students met with Foundation President Ferruccio Resta, sharing their first impressions of this new platform dedicated to the PhD Program community.  Their remarks highlighted the importance of this tool in facilitating communication, promoting new opportunities and strengthening academic and industrial connections.

New sections and content for a greater experience

In addition to a revamped graphical interface, the site – which is available in English precisely because many of the students come from foreign countries – includes several sections designed to meet the needs of students and stakeholders:

  • Calls for Applications: an area dedicated to active calls for applications, with detailed information on opportunities to join FBK’s PhD Program;
  • Network: presentation of partner universities, both Italian and international, with which the Foundation has signed PhD agreements and joint programs. A number that is bound to grow thanks to the Foundation’s strategic goals contained in the Strategic Plan, which aim for a 50% increase in active agreements with universities and a 20% increase in PhD programs included in FBK projects;
  • Industrial PhD Program: section dedicated to the Doctorate Program in Industrial Innovation, an interdisciplinary program co-founded by FBK and the University of Trento, which offers courses in collaboration with different academic departments and involves companies in defining research projects. The goal is to train highly qualified professionals with scientific, technical and soft skills to meet the challenges of industry;
  • FBK Academy: the section presents the multidisciplinary training opportunities offered by FBK;
  • Students: a space that presents the main actors of the PhD Program;
  • News:  a section that collects updates, testimonials and news about activities.

Starting this year, FBK’s PhD Program is also on Instagram! Follow the @fbk_phd profile to find out updates, stories, and testimonials directly from PhD students. In its opening reel, some of the current students explain why they chose Fondazione Bruno Kessler for their education. Testimonials like those of Alessandro La Farciola and Bez Baruah Suomi, offer an honest and engaging look at life inside FBK’s International PhD Program.

“I chose FBK for my PhD because it’s an important research center for artificial intelligence, which is the field of my research, and there are lots of experts, from whom I can learn.”

“Here I can get both the academic side and the industrial involvement and environment:  that’s why I chose the FBK PhD program.”
