June 12, 2020

Applications for the FBK summer school are open, that this year is at its 20th anniversary and in an international online edition

(v.l.) Applications to enroll in WebValley, the international summer school of Data Science that Trento-based Fondazione Bruno Kessler has dedicated to young sttudents aged 17-19 since 2001 are open until July 3.

Twenty years ago, Webvalley had begun to offer the opportunity to live a non-traditional multidisciplinary research experience by providing basic knowledge, methodologies and cutting-edge tools. Thanks to this experience and due to this year’s unusual situation, the 2020 edition will be developed remotely and will last for 2 weeks, from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 28. This year’s theme will be artificial intelligence applied to computational biology and precision medicine.

The “WebValley 2020 Reimagined: training the AI future generation” camp includes a first week of online courses and workshops to acquire the tools, in terms of scientific and technological knowledge that the young participants can immediately contextualize and put into practice. During the second week, with the support of FBK researchers and experts from international laboratories, the team will set about a scientific research project, combining topics of excellence with cutting-edge technology resources, such as cloud computing and shared management tools.

“In these past few months,” Claudia Dolci, head of the FBK RIS – Research and Innovation for Education Unit, explained, “we have learned that the meeting and discussion points don’t have to be physical only. The voice of research can also come from far away and, in this edition, we will connect WebValley with the best experts in the world through virtual meetings and discussions. We want to see these new elements as an opportunity and to experience this process of change with state-of-the-art organizational and educational tools and models, involving alumni and former colleagues who have undertaken different work paths as well. ”

Please visit the website https://webvalley.fbk.eu/ for enrollment. After signing up at https://webvalley.fbk.eu/accounts/signup/, please complete the application form at https://webvalley.fbk.eu/application by using the General track.
