Gian Mario Maggio
Gian Mario has a background in digital technologies and digital transformation. He holds a Ph.D. from University College Dublin and is co-author of over 100 publications, 2 patents and numerous contributions to international standards (e.g. IEEE 802.15.4a). He has extensive international experience, gained in both Europe and the US, in academic (e.g. University of California San Diego), industrial (e.g. STMicroelectronics) and research (e.g. FBK) contexts.
Gian Mario has in-depth knowledge of European research and innovation policies and programmes (e.g. Digital Europe), acquired through direct experience at European institutions (e.g. European Cooperation in Science and Technology) in Brussels. He has also held management positions at EIT Digital and EIT Manufacturing, contributing to the development of European programmes for the promotion of research and innovation in industry. He is currently Chief Strategy Officer for European Affairs at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, where he coordinates European positioning and cooperation strategies.

October 16, 2025X-TEF: the annual meeting in MilanThe delegates involved in the Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) projects promoted by the European Commission, together with other stakeholders of the European Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem, met for the annual meeting, held for the first time in Italy on October 1. Together, they had the opportunity to discuss how the large-scale operation of TEFs accelerates the adoption of AI and robotics in Europe.
