FBK and Cooperazione Trentina sign an agreement for cooperative innovation

January 29, 2026

A framework agreement has been signed between Fondazione Bruno Kessler and Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione to advance applied research, support the digital transition, and foster technological development across the Trentino cooperative system.

Fondazione Bruno Kessler and Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione have signed a five-year framework agreement to start a structured collaboration in the fields of innovation, research and technology transfer. The agreement was signed by the Foundation’s President, Ferruccio Resta, and Cooperazione Trentina President Roberto Simoni at their respective offices.

“With this agreement,” commented Roberto Simoni, “we are laying the groundwork for an operational dialogue between cutting-edge scientific research and the cooperative business sector.” “The goal is to support our companies as they take on the challenges of digital and ecological transformation, strengthening human capital and building bridges between innovation and the community.”

The collaboration between FBK and Cooperazione Trentina will take shape through a series of joint projects. Among these, a central role is played by so-called proofs of concept (POCs)—small-scale experiments designed to test the technical and economic feasibility of new solutions before broader implementation. In addition, the two institutions aim to encourage innovative entrepreneurship and the testing of artificial intelligence solutions in areas relevant to both the research and cooperative sectors.

Our Foundation,” said Ferruccio Resta, “has always been committed to turning research and innovation into tangible value for Trentino, leveraging scientific expertise and technologies to support transitions that span businesses and the wider community. The Agreement with the Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione gives shape to this mission through Proofs of Concept and joint laboratories to bring solutions that integrate data and artificial intelligence into processes and to transform experimentation into adoption, making innovation a widespread capacity in the local area”.

Cooperazione Trentina – with more than 400 companies active in all economic sectors – represents a pillar of the local development model. Thanks to this agreement, it will be able to count on an excellent scientific ally to face the challenges of competitiveness and sustainability.

The agreement also allows for joint participation in European, national, and local funding opportunities, as well as the development of follow-up agreements focused on specific projects or thematic areas.
