On the frontline of fight against child cancer

Two meetings: one with Ospedale Bambino Gesù in Rome, and one with the Proton therapy Center in Trento

 

Monday, May 15, 2017, from 4 pm to 6 pm, a conference in Trento on the collaboration between the two institutions.

The following day, Tuesday, May 16, a scientific seminar dedicated to the Trentino healthcare system.

There will be two opportunities for in-depth exploration devoted to pediatric oncology and organized by Fondazione Bruno Kessler, through their “FBK for Helath” program and by the Province Healthcare Services System.

Monday, May 15, at 4.00 pm, at the Aurora Hall of Palazzo Trentini on G. Manci street in Trento, representatives from FBK, APSS, the Proton Therapy Center and Ospedale Bambino Gesù of Rome will discuss the synergy between the two care centers.

The round table entitled “The support community: the role of associations and volunteering” will focus on the services that out-of-Region families are provided with and on the illness experience. Radio host Gabriele Biancardi will talk with some parents of children currently receiving treatment at the Bambino Gesù Hosptal and the Proton Therapy Center in Trento, and with LILT (Italian League against Cancer), ABIO (Hospitalized Child Association) Team FCC (Team Fausto Coppi corse), Valdaone ti sorride (project of the Municipality of Valdaone in collaboration with LILT), the Archdiocese of Trento, the Trento Centro Auser and Associazione 27 giugno, which contribute to the creation of a family support network.

The next day, Tuesday, May 16, from 9 am at the Proton Therapy Center on 14, Al-Desert Road in Trento, researchers, doctors and experts from the two institutions will present study activities and innovative treatments on some pediatric tumors applied in the two centers Of care.

A guided tour of the Proton Therapy Center has been scheduled for noon.

 

NOTE

The conference on Monday, May 15 is free and open to the public. The meeting on May 16, (“The multidisciplinary experience in pediatric cancer treatment: the neuro-oncology case”) is primarily dedicated to the Trentino healthcare system employees and to physicians-in-training enrolled in the Trento School of General Medicine.
