Two foundations together for the future of research and innovation
With the signing of a Framework Agreement, Fondazione Bruno Kessler (Trento) and Fondazione Ugo Bordoni (Rome) are joining forces to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and to identify, develop and initiate projects and service activities in the field of 5G telecommunications networks, cybersecurity, blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence
Furthermore, the two Foundations are committed to obtaining joint funding at local, national and European levels. Both organizations have, among their institutional missions, the promotion of culture, scientific progress and technological innovation. They both develop research and scientific and application studies in the field of information and telecommunications technologies and, among their respective competences, they cover a wide spectrum of sectors, from electronic communications to microsystems, advanced materials, public networked services.
“I am very pleased with the signing of this memorandum of understanding with Fondazione Bruno Kessler, two research bodies that join forces to put their common assets of knowledge and ability to promote research and innovation at the service of the nation” – the President of Fondazione Bordoni, Antonio Sassano, stated. “On the other hand – the professor added – we are facing a very important challenge for Europe and for the country, in the field of technology innovation, represented by the explosion of 5G connectivity, of the Distributed Ledger Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, and I believe that the collaboration between research bodies linked to the Public Administration such as FUB and FBK can give the system an important contribution to embrace the opportunities that this technological leap brings with it.”
“The agreement with Fondazione Ugo Bordoni marks an important step in the implementation of the goals set out in FBK’s ten-year strategic plan (2018-2027) – Fondazione Bruno Kessler’s President Francesco Profumo says – The partnership between the two foundations will allow to merge, even with a significant investment in young PhD students and researchers, distinctive and complementary skills that will enable the development of projects of excellence in key areas such as 5G, IoT and Artificial Intelligence. The effect will be a stronger competitiveness in Europe and “ready-to-use” projects for the Italian system with innovative solutions in the connected vehicles, industry 4.0, e-health and smart cities fields, while facilitating a positive impact also on the digital transformation of the Public Administration, in line with the Digital Europe Program (2021-2027). ”
