Sara Papi

Sara Papi is a Postdoctoral Researcher in speech processing at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Italy. She earned her PhD in Information Engineering and Computer Science with honors from the University of Trento in 2024, focusing on speech translation. She also holds a Master’s degree in Computer and Automation Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Engineering, both from the University of Siena, graduating cum laude. During her doctoral studies, she interned at Microsoft, working on streaming speech recognition and translation, and her thesis received the Special Mention for the Best Thesis Award from AIxIA in 2024. Sara’s recent work has also been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Paper and SAC Award at ACL 2024 and the Social Impact Paper Award at EMNLP 2024. She has played an active role in the research community by co-organizing the IWSLT Evaluation Campaign and the EACL Student Research Workshop, and regularly serves as a reviewer for top-tier conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, ICASSP, and Interspeech.
