August 26, 2021

The closing event of the summer school organized by Fondazione Bruno Kessler for high school students to be held virtually August 27,from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm. The event will be streamed live also on Fondazione Bruno Kessler's Youtube and Facebook channels

Like last year, the 2021 edition of the summer Internet Camp organized by Fonadzione Bruno Kessler for high school students was held entirely online, thanks to the organization of a widespread laboratory: 19 students from Italy, Texas, Virginia, California, New Mexico, Utah, Brazil and Russia worked in teams, led by the tutors from a Head Office hosted by the Artigianelli High School of Trento, for a duration of 2 weeks (August 16-28).

During this period the team engaged in the application of artificial intelligence to the fields of health and precision medicine, working with the experts of the FBK Digital Health and Wellbeing center’s DSH and eHealthLab units and in collaboration with other Italian and international laboratories.

School participants put into practice the data science tools acquired in workshops during the first week to trace the early onset signs of comorbidities in diabetic patients from their medical history (health trajectory), collected from digital medical records.

In addition to machine learning methodologies for life sciences, topics such as data reproducibility and interpretability, privacy for AI solutions for health and the basics for implementing models in the cloud were explored.

Thanks to the three teachers of the Istituto Artigianelli who were part of the team, the project applied teaching and design thinking methodologies, linked to the world of innovation, which guaranteed a structured approach to the analysis of the context, to the generation of ideas and the results presentation and promotion phase. Furthermore, room was reserved for scientific and experience communication, including in the school program a scientific communication module taught by the Arditodesìo Association of Trento and, as for some years now, a participant had the specific role of Communication Team officer.
