FBK-coordinated European project to build a secure, flexible and reusable artificial intelligence platform wrapping up

Started in January 2021, the AI@EDGE three-year European project, funded under the Horizon 2020 program and coordinated by Fondazione Bruno Kessler, is coming to an end.

Based on the assumption that in the future we will interact more and more with artificial intelligence, the highly technical project involved the creation of an AI platform with security and flexibility features that is reusable and applicable in different contexts. The validity of the system was then tested on real-world use cases, such as complex scenarios in which a number of self-driving cars interact to travel safely on roundabouts or drone systems, connected in 5G and equipped with artificial intelligence, that monitor arterial roads and are able to detect accidents.

Work for which FBK coordinated a consortium of 20 academic, technological, and industrial entities from eight European countries – Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.

The results of the project will now be available to the participating entities for commercial and industrial collaborations and to contribute to the development of AI in academia.

The consortium, which is highly multidisciplinary, included:
