Umberto Morelli
Umberto Morelli is a technologist in the Security & Trust unit of the Center for Cybersecurity at Fondazione Bruno Kessler. With more than a decade of experience in the field, he promotes the principles of security by design and by default through research, prototyping, training, and mentoring, while also addressing regulatory compliance and security in emerging technologies.
At FBK, he serves as the Center’s technical lead for cybersecurity, with a focus on compliance with the NIS2 Directive. He is also the lead for ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 27001 (information security), and sustainability initiatives. In addition, he is a member of the Joint Lab for Cybersecurity, a collaborative initiative between the IT Services Department and the Center for Cybersecurity focused on applied research and strengthening digital resilience both within and beyond the Foundation.
He currently coordinates the technical and organizational activities of the European MERIT project for the Center, an initiative aimed at developing and sustaining high-quality master’s degree programs in AI, cybersecurity, and IoT, while also promoting broader societal upskilling in these fields.
