FBK certified for quality management and information security

Trento-based Fondazione Bruno Kessler has obtained certifications for Quality Management (UNI EN ISO 9001:2015) and Information Security (ISO/IEC 27001:2022).
A process that began in March last year and has now concluded with the official awarding of these certifications, attesting to the importance of having verified a secure, quality environment that mitigates data security risks.
Andrea Simoni, Fondazione Bruno Kessler’s Secretary General, expressed satisfaction with obtaining the certifications, stressing the importance of such an achievement for a research institution: “This certification process is significant for an entity like FBK, in that it shows how research also strives to certify its processes in the same way as companies. We did this because the Foundation has the ability to mass produce devices and sensors, as well as to make application, technology and artificial intelligence solutions available to the local community, and these certifications give us the opportunity to work more and more synergistically with companies.”
The certifications obtained highlight FBK’s commitment to ensuring high standards in its production processes, facilitating closer collaborations with industry. This step represents a further strengthening of FBK’s role as a bridge between research and industry, promoting innovation and technology development.
“The certifications obtained,” the FBK team in charge of the process pointed out, ”represent not only an official recognition of our commitment, but also a key step in strengthening our reputation within the scientific community and on the international scene. In particular, the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification testifies to our ability to ensure efficient processes and constantly improve our services, while ISO/IEC 27001:2022 confirms our commitment to ensuring adequate and proportionate security standards that help protect the confidentiality, availability and integrity of our entire information assets. The two certifications, which are increasingly required for calls, tendering and entering into commercial contracts, help strengthen FBK’s standards in an ever-changing technological environment where information security management is crucial.”
UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certifications, harmonized with GDPR, were obtained by the Foundation for its internal organization and the following research centers: Sensors&Devices, Digital Society, Augmented Intelligence, Digital Health&Wellbeing, Digital Industry, Sustainable Energy, Health Emergencies, and Cyber Security. The latter and the Clean Room were already ISO 9001 certified.
FBK is certified in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 (Certificate No. 28257/12/S) and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Certificate No. 59/24) standards.
