From microsystems to artificial intelligence, FBK has translated its research capabilities into technology platforms and concrete solutions for businesses, public administrations, and citizens, strengthening its role as a driver of regional innovation with global reach.

On March 20, a session titled “Ecosystems of Innovation: From Research to Business in Technological Discontinuity” was held at the FBK hub in Povo. The event was promoted by the TEHA Club and dedicated to the CEO Community, an international strategic consulting think tank within The European House – Ambrosetti, a leading Italian group in management consulting and applied research.

FBK will contribute to the European project by microfabricating the sensors at the core of a system designed to diagnose subcutaneous cancer forms in a noninvasive way and without radiation.

There will be 13,000 innovative ultra-fast silicon detectors, developed and produced by FBK, installed at the heart of the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment at CERN in Geneva. The project, launched with INFN Turin, will help study and measure particle physics phenomena with greater precision.

More than €100 million will support infrastructure expansion and talent attraction. Fondazione Bruno Kessler continues to focus on talent, partnerships, and technology transfer to shape the future of innovation. The next institutional and benchmarking event will be held in February in Bologna.

It was an opportunity to discuss Artificial Intelligence, as well as sustainable energy and the Hydrogen Valley. Trento Province Vice President Spinelli said: "It is an honor to welcome the Austrian delegation to such a highly specialized center as Fondazione Bruno Kessler." The European Union has approved SUPREME, a new pilot line aimed at establishing reliable fabrication processes for superconducting quantum chips. Led by VTT (Finland) and involving 23 partners across eight EU member states, the SUPREME consortium will work together to strengthen Europe’s emerging quantum technology ecosystem.

Thanks to its consolidated experience in the manufacture of silicon sensors, Fondazione Bruno Kessler has won a €50 million grant to develop a new generation of microelectromechanical sensors and systems. Over the next three years, the Foundation will invest a total of €82 million to expand its Clean Rooms.

For the first time since its establishment, Fondazione Bruno Kessler has exceeded 100 million euros for its budget. The funding obtained will enable FBK to invest in new facilities and people: clean room and young talent are the priorities for the coming years.
