Luisa Bentivogli

Luisa  received her “Laurea” Degree in Philosophy of Language in 1999 at the University of Bologna. Since then, she has been working as a researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (formerly ITC-irst).

From 2008 to 2013, she was based at the Centre for the Evaluation of Language and Communication Technologies (CELCT), first as Research Manager with the role of coordinating the centre’s activities (2008–2012), then as Director of the centre (2012–2013).

Her research interests include the evaluation and analysis of machine translation (MT) and speech translation (ST) systems, the creation and annotation of multilingual resources, translation technologies for human translators, crowdsourcing for natural language processing, and computational lexicography in a multilingual environment. She is currently working on the creation of multilingual resources for speech translation (ST) and the evaluation and mitigation of gender bias in machine translation and speech translation, for which she recently won an Amazon Research Award.
